What is Pittsfield FLEX?

Pittsfield FLEX is the expanded South County Connector service to Pittsfield, launching January 4, 2026. It replaces the Pittsfield Shuttle and offers lower fares, more flexible booking, and access for more riders.

Who can ride Pittsfield FLEX?

The service is open to riders from all South County Connector communities. Non-seniors and non-medical trips are welcome on a space-available basis.

What trips are allowed?

Medical trips remain the priority, but non-medical trips may be booked when space is available. Riders can request non-medical trips the day before travel.

How much does Pittsfield FLEX cost?

The fare is $6 one-way. Riders using a multi-town punch pass pay $5 per trip.

Which communities get one-seat rides?

One-seat door-to-door rides to and from Pittsfield are available for residents of Great Barrington, Egremont, Stockbridge, and West Stockbridge. Riders from other communities may need to transfer in Great Barrington.

What are the departure times?

FLEX departures from South County are approximately:

• 7:30 AM
• 9:30 AM
• 11:30 AM
• 2:00 PM

FLEX departures from Pittsfield are approximately:

• 8:30 AM
• 10:30 AM
• 12:30 PM
• 3:00 PM

These times are coordinated with BRTA Route 921 Express service.

I'm a senior/person with disabilities. What if my doctor appointment time doesn't line up with a Pittsfield FLEX trip time?

Call South County Connector at (413) 591-3826 to discuss alternate trip time options as far in advance as possible, up to 7 days ahead of your appointment. We may be able to accommodate your trip request at an alternate time.

What if my return trip doesn't line up with Pittsfield FLEX departures?

The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority provides FREE fixed-route limited stop express bus service (Route 921 Schedule - Berkshire Regional Transit Authority) along Route 7 between Pittsfield and Great Barrington, which operates Monday-Friday 5:30 AM - 9:30 PM every two hours. For example, if you're looking to leave Pittsfield at 7:30 PM, and live in Egremont, you would be encouraged to catch the 7:30 PM #921 bus from Pittsfield, and have an On Demand ride arranged with the South County Connector at 8:30 PM from the GB Big Y to your home in Egremont.
